Overview
Lamu is a beautifully preserved piece of history. Walking Lamu’s narrow streets of coral stone you will experience perhaps the oldest and best-preserved Swahili community in East Africa.
No cars are allowed on Lamu – donkeys set the pace here. With its courtyards, verandas and elaborate architecture, you’ll feel as though you’ve entered another world and another time in Lamu.
In keeping with the retreat-like atmosphere, Lamu hosts religious festivals and is a study centre for Islamic and Swahili cultures.
There’s much to be discovered in this charming, historic town. Stroll nearby Shella beach and enjoy a sail on an authentic dhow. Everything about the Lamu experience is serene and yet also unforgettable.

Arrive Lamu later in the afternoon at your hotel where you will be checked in then spend the rest of the day swimming and relaxing in the hotel as you enjoy your drinks and make merry with the wide variety of delicious meals and cocktail drinks.

After breakfast you have the option to spend the day relaxing in your room or beach bed as you enjoy your drinks and make merry with the wide variety of delicious meals and cocktail drinks at the hotel; and swimming or go for a tour around Lamu.
Manda is an island of the Lamu Archipelago of Kenya, known for the prosperous 9th century ports of Takwa and Manda town. The island is now linked by ferry to Lamu and is home to Manda Airport, while Manda Toto island lies to its west. The island is separated from the mainland by the narrow Mkanda channel.
Lamu Fort is a fortress in the town of Lamu in north-eastern Kenya. Originally situated on the waterfront, the fort today is located in a central position in the town, about 70 metres from the main jetty on the shore. Lamu Fort was built between 1813 and 1821 with Omani assistance.
